NUS... Typical..

Had a mini discussion with eliz online. Haven seen her for a long time, be it in person or online. Glad that we talk well on msn; definitely one of the ppl I will hope to see online and initiate a conversation with.

We were discussing about how some students accepted into MIT actually chose to enrol into NUS. My first reaction was that they shld get a lesson on priorities. This world is full of such screwed up ppl, in this aspect at least. On one end I see ppl (not a handful, but many) who managed to scrap into NUS and are tirelessly trying to carve their Honours path. While the scholars from who-knows-where just happily enrol themselves into NUS, despite their other alternatives, which are as good, if not better. These scholars come in and make such overwhelming competition for those who are not that academically inclined and deprive them of their rightful Honours. Screw with the bell curve and "meritocracy".

I never did like competition; Maybe thats how BitchB almost swayed me to enrol into NTU. However I think that NUS has more modules suitable for me and since Im there, I shall be there. Never did like such last min changes. However I do appreciate her kindness to open my eyes to NTU. Kind of strange why I hardly considered NTU after my results came out.

Nonetheless I know that Im adaptable and that I shld be able to thrive under numerous circumstances. I will stay there and make sure that I do not get beaten left, right centre by these scholars. However I have heard that competition b/w the scholars are not that rife in Arts/ Social Sciences. Mainly in Engineering and Computing. Whatever it is, the rat race is pissing me off as always. And the educational institutions arent very helpful in making learning less competitive.

  • YOU ARE NOT BLOGGING..!!!!!!! AND GOT NO TAGBOARD VERY DIFFICULT TO COMMENT LEHH..1!!!!!

anyway... the truth is, i seriously think nus is not that bad la. at least im happy being in nus and i sincerely like what im studying very very very much. hahahaa...

but.. this is just my opinion. others have differing opinion but i think as long as one is happy, it suffice. and having a happy attitude before entering nus does help contribute to the happiness to be enjoyed during your stay.

hope to see u in sch. :)

Uh, I don't have any locus standi to comment on NUS vs. NTU so all I can say is, do what makes you happy. :)

A pina colada is a cocktail. It's pineapple and coconut plus some alcoholic thingy. I can't remember what it is. Haha.

  • my dear, the sad truth is that educational institutions, being institutions, are inherently part of the rat race.
