My dilemma
It has been quite a long time since a dilemma struck me. And now I have got TWO. Great.
Just to digress with a bit of reflection. Dilemmas are problems that occur to us everyday but I do not seem to care two hoots about them. Why? Apathy plus happy-go-lucky? Decisiveness? Or that such tough problems just do not find me so often? I really do not know.... However I see some people around who are racking their brains hard for an answer to their dilemmas. Why am I facing such different difficulties from them?
Anyway, I got real pissed that day on the evacuation thingy. Not because of the job, but because of the job-hunt on the phone before I went for my stint. I found numerous admin jobs in the West area and called to enquire. All I heard was "Sorry we do not want temp workers". One even replied me "4 mths is too short a time". I felt like punching the wall when I heard all these. Im glad I did not do that cos that will make two injuries in a day; Im not a masochist.
It was then that I really cosidered my choice on the Early Matriculation scheme (May intake). Do I really need to matriculate early? Can I afford to go in the Normal Term?
First, the reasons for Early Matriculation:
1) Prep and gear myself up for uni academics after the 2yr plus hiatus
2) I wish to take this time to complete some modules first.
3) Studies take priority over work now and what more than to go in early, back to nerdhood
I pondered over these pros and the pros of Normal Matriculation (August intake). I even asked for opinions fr some of my friends who I managed to meet up with this wk. (Btw I know hardly a handful of ppl who are matriculating early. Either my network is small, or the scheme is not very well received). Basically if I go in earlier, I can save more money for uni expenditure. Prep for school is not that hard, I can always study after work or quit a few wks before school for self-prep. The modules they offer us in Early Mat will be the basic modules and I doubt they will have much effect on my timetable. Worse to worst, I will study for them during my vacation or something. The priority for now before school opens is financial prep before uni, which I kind of lack in. Thus I decide to enrol with the normal term, open my job possibilities and gain as much job exp and $$ as possible now.
The email has been sent and it has been approved, with a "no further changes will be allowed" clause. Im going in August ppl. Regrets, reprieve or rejoice? I can only wish all the best for myself.
