Dinner #2
Grandma....She looks cute in this. Her smile is filled with benevolence. Hardly any greenery in the carpark so this has gotta do.
This dinner was definitely more filling than the first, and more scrumptious. Had it at my favourite aunt's house and it was very lively. It doesnt take a genius to find out how extended my extended family is. Saw them gambling and I was pretty envious; Haven set a bet for mths. Was supposed to let the gambling spirit run wild today apparently the mood did not manifest. Boring chu yi for me again. At least food is always good company. And having 2.5 servings of dinner within 20 mins proved to be sufficient, for a while. Pepperidge will back me up for supper.
Its pretty heart-warming that everyone can just sit down and do small talk. I must admit I never did like it but it just seems like a must-do for times like this. One thing I discovered is that I forgot my NY vocabulary. All I can think of this yr round is "xin nian kuai le" (happy new yr). And an occasional "Shen ti jian kang" (Healthy body) cos it works for everyone. Even if I do recall the others, (which unfortunately I dun) I do not really find a need for the diversity. These two greetings work best and are actually what everyone shld have.
Its a pity we did not go to many houses and we could not stay long. Nonetheless, its a blessing in disguise cos I managed to catch up on slp. Some of the strange things I did this time round. An essay on CNY eve and slping on a chu yi afternoon. I will be having dinner at a Thai restaurant tml night. Thats atypical too.
I wonder if it bodes a sign for change... ??
